This Is It! - Birth

"And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn." Luke 2:7 English Standard Version

Jesus' life begins as ours does. It begins with birth.

Now granted, there probably was room for us at the hospital in which we were born, but the tender care Jesus received is much like ours. He's wrapped in clothing and carefully laid in a manger.

He slept. He nursed. He burped, and yes, he filled his diapers. It's what babies do.

The greatest mystery of our Christian faith is that God takes on our humanity. He cares about our story by becoming like us, yet, as the Scriptures remind us, without the brokenness of sin. But why would he take on our flesh?

He became like us that he might bear to his cross what has kept us separated from His Father. What he is not, he becomes on the cross. He who knew no sin became sin for us.

Our story is one of freedom because of this baby. This is it! This is our life!
