Pointing to Jesus

Palmer Park, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Pikes Peak is known as "America's Mountain," and I love living at her base.

This was a difficult day to take a picture of Pikes Peak. As I've mentioned before, cloudless skies are boring when taking pictures.

So I had to find help to take an interesting photo of America's Mountain, and this dormant branch came to my aid.

There is a delicate balance in the photo between the branch and the mountain.

"Then I fell down at [the angel's] feet to worship him, but he said, 'No, don't worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers and sisters who testify about their faith in Jesus. Worship only God. For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus.'" Revelation 19:10 New Living Translation

The branch is the servant in this photo. If you're eye is drawn to the branch more than Pikes Peak the picture fails. The branch ought to draw your eye to the mountain.

Is the branch important? Yes.

You are important in the same way that the angel was important, the prophets, evangelists and apostles were important: You point to Jesus.

My purpose was not to take a picture of the branch but of the mountain, yet the branch draws your eye to Pikes Peak.

Your life draws people to Jesus. People see in you his forgiving love. People see in you the God who called creation into existence. People see in you the life God desires us to live.

All of this happens because your life points to Jesus.
