The Heart of God

Colorado Springs, Colorado

"This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." 1 Timothy 2:3-4 English Standard Version

It's one thing to say it. It's another to believe it. God wants all people to be saved. I think that phrase makes us Christians feel all warm and fuzzy, doesn't it? Warm and fuzzys are so Christmasy. You see, if God wants it and Christ won it, then we ought to wish for it. Right?

"All" is a rather inclusive word.

Start the naughty list of all the people you don't like and guess what? They're on the list of those that God desires to live in an intimate relationship with him through the merits of Christ.

Advent is about the love of God coming into the world. It's easy for us to believe that Jesus came for this man sitting alone on a park bench in Colorado Springs at his first advent. And we might even grasp the concept that Jesus is coming for him at his second advent, however the Church also proclaims that Jesus comes to him now, between these two advents.

Are you and I willing to sit with this man and be Jesus to him? The more we understand and experience the heart of God the more likely we will take such action.
